The child's education before school
Many parents believe that their children are ahead of their development and decide that their child should be under 5 years old to start learning a language , and why not become musically literate with an instrument. But is the choice of parents correct and how do their ambitions affect the child's mental status ? There are many questions we ask ourselves about our children , but in order to do the right thing, we need to know, above all, that knowledge must go hand in hand with the emotional growth of the child .
However, if you listen to his authentic needs, you will understand that the child has no interest in learning to read and write at the age of 2 or 3, as some parents claim. Competent in this field say that reading and writing are appropriate forms of knowledge in the later stages of development. At the age of 2, 3, 4 or 5, children learn about phenomena through sight, hearing, taste, touch or physical contact. In other words, they receive their knowledge through sensory channels that provoke the cognitive processes and emotional aspects of their personality. Replacing these experiences with learning to read and write is a way to replace the child's emotional processes with intellectual functions, which means depriving him of imagination , creativity and crippling his emotional nature. The real needs of the child must be nurtured above all taking into account his psycho-physical level. The self, which is the deepest part of the human being, is nourished by sensations, feelings and passions, which explains why emotional experiences are so necessary for a child's growth . Lack of emotional life creates a feeling of emptiness that leads to inexplicable suffering and underestimation of one's identity.
Parents who approach the child with their claims provoke rejection, reluctance to new knowledge, but also as a consequence prevents them from adequately cope with their emotional problems . For this reason, we see children who have high logical skills , speak different languages, but, on the other hand, have deep emotional instability , or anxiety and tension in relationships with peers. They are children with low self-esteem, with inadequate reactions , which will determine their behavior as adults.
Sometimes there may be exceptions for parents who are not impressed by the commitment and difficulties their children experience and claim perfectionism, which will sooner or later cause mental breakdown. Often this breakdown manifests itself in later life. This can happen shortly before adolescence, when the child begins to show a total reluctance to learn , make friends and isolate himself from real life.
Excessive love of parents for children can lead them to make inadequate decisions regarding the child's development (to force him to certain cognitive activities or active sports, without taking into account his desires and abilities). This is because perhaps these activities were missed by them when they were young , for reasons beyond their control. They want to give their children what they have not had the opportunity to realize.
In other cases, the motives for the parents' behavior are sought in the child's desire to identify with themselves (the parent is so pleased with himself that he keeps his child carrying his qualities and skills ).
The reasons for the radical positions of adults in relation to children must be reconsidered and changed so that they are not to the detriment of the health and proper mental development of the child . They must strive to maintain a balance between love and ambition.
